They’ve made their way from a startup with only 3 employees to a successful company with 100+ experts on the staff supporting one of the most popular job portals for small and mid-level businesses in Germany and Austria.
 
The company’s mission is to create and enhance an easy-to-use digital tool that would give smaller companies and job seekers an opportunity to find each other faster. By leveraging the power of technology, our client is making a contribution to the development of the national economy as small and mid-level companies unite about 60% of the German workforce.

The main problem our client had to resolve was the lack of highly-skilled tech experts that would provide adequate assistance and job portal software development services to keep the existing pool of digital products up-to-date and useful both for the owner and for the customers.

While our client already had both web and mobile software that was functional, each of the solutions had flaws that had a negative impact on the product’s performance, operational efficiency, and usability. They also experienced a lack of job portal development experts in the team, so Light IT Global has provided back-end, front-end, and mobile developers to augment the staff.
 
One of the main problems our team had to resolve in terms of job portal software development was the automation of multiple tasks and processes that were either performed manually (which led to a significant decline in productivity) or required revamping to be implemented more easily and efficiently. The changes Light IT Global’s developers had to make were related both to the back-end and the front-end of the existing solutions.
 
Moreover, our team was responsible not only for job portal software development but for software maintenance as well and continues to perform all the necessary updates and tweaks per the client’s request.

Implementation

The job portal receives relevant offerings via JSON and XML feeds that are being imported into the database while our client’s employees perform the necessary refinement process and make the offerings visible to the job seekers.
 
To eliminate existing drawbacks in the workflow and streamline the processes, our experts have provided custom job portal software development, implemented multiple services handling their own domain area, and integrated each of said services with the existing platform. For example, while our client works specifically with small and mid-level companies, many of them prefer to send information about the offerings via email. Prior to the cooperation with Light IT Global, our client’s employees had to manually process the information from emails, which had a significant negative impact on productivity. To make data management easier and faster, we have created a service in Python to parse and import data coming from emails. Every 10 minutes, the service checks the inbox for new emails, reads them, parses/extracts data from the email’s text, and assembles data into a unified format for further import to the platform.
 
To streamline the data parsing process from third-party services, Light IT Global’s team has developed another service that has successfully replaced an outdated script our client used before. A new custom parser is launched automatically according to a pre-determined schedule while also offering higher scrapping quality and more relevant data to work with.
 
Besides data import, the platform requires efficient data export mechanisms to partner with Federal Employment Agency. Our developers have created a complex custom ML-powered service that handles integration with custom API, additional logic, and management of the platform. A data processing pipeline was built to facilitate validation, cleaning, and refinement steps, while an integrated ML-based solution improved categorization. Said job portal software development innovations helped to boost the data quality and reduce the need for manual work. Prior to the introduction of the service, our client had to work with a solution that managed to process data slower and only once a day. A new custom service created by Light IT Global processes the info every two hours and offers extensive functionality to make the workflow more efficient.
 
And while the optimization data import/export was the highest priority task for this project, our team has performed multiple other tasks to improve the performance of mobile apps and the portal. The upgrades made during the job portal development included the following:
