Our client is a Canada-based startup founded in 2021. The company has entered the modern HR & Recruiting industry with the intention of offering the audience a state-of-the-art digital recruitment solution that would leverage all the advantages of innovative technology, fully automate the recruitment process, and provide both talents and recruiters with precise instant matching.
 
The company’s goal is to eliminate all of the most common drawbacks job boards and applicant tracking systems typically have while making the user experience smooth and the talent acquisition process quick, bias-free, and effective.

Client Request

As our client is a startup that was looking to build its first digital project, Light IT Global’s team was hired to develop an MVP for an online job marketplace. The final product should have included all of the core functionality (AI-powered matching, intelligent talent assessment, private talent pools, unique talent badges, etc.) while being flexible and scalable enough to add new features later.
 
Providing end-to-end custom software development services, Light IT Global was responsible for all parts of the web development process, the platform’s design, UI/UX, and quality assurance.

The Outcome

Per the client’s request, Light IT Global has developed a custom feature-packed talent acquisition platform from scratch. The core of the solution is an AI-based matching algorithm, which connects recruiters with candidates who are not only qualified for the specific position but also meet all of the listed additional requirements.
 
The talent acquisition platform is web-based yet 100% mobile-friendly and can be accessed via desktop and mobile devices.

While in 2021 the concept of an AI-powered talent acquisition platform wasn’t exactly new already, many of them still had major flaws that decreased the efficiency of the hiring process. Some examples of such drawbacks include a lack of screening tools, slow time-to-hire, unsustainable workload, poor technical implementation, and more.
 
Our client’s goal was to develop a digital solution for businesses and job seekers all over the world that would not have any of those problems and would provide users with a convenient and effective way to find a great job or a perfect candidate.
 
And while such a business idea can be profitable and sought-after, the project’s success largely depends on the experience and professionalism of an IT team that will bring it to life. That is why our client chose Light IT Global to develop an MVP for them. Prior to working on this project, our team has already created several similar solutions that utilize AI-based algorithms to accelerate, automate, and simplify talent acquisition.

Implementation

Light IT Global started the implementation process by gathering all the project’s requirements and agreeing upon the tech stack with the client. Node.js + Express (NestJS framework) was chosen for back-end development and React.js for front-end.
 
As the solution’s scalability was a priority for our client, we’ve opted for microservices architecture, which makes it easy to add new functionality in the future and ensures the platform is fail-safe and secure.
 
A powerful AI algorithm and a custom talent assessment process augmented by a unique scoring system form the core of the software. All of the data provided by the job seekers (previous experience, education, competencies, soft skills, etc.) are processed by the algorithm to determine the level of qualification and the compatibility of a specific user with a particular job.
 
Apart from matching the talents with a certain job listing, the AI algorithm is also responsible for prioritizing the chosen talents. It means that the algorithm not only automatically gatherers suitable candidates in a custom talent pool, but it also arranges the users in order of meeting the requirements of a particular opening (from most suitable to least suitable).
 
The talent acquisition platform contains multiple third-party service integrations, which improve the solution’s security and make it easier to use. For example, Linkedin API allows candidates to sign in and export information from their Linkedin profile. Zerobounce is used for email verification and validation, and Twilio was incorporated as a phone verification tool.
 
Light IT Global has also created responsive designs for the platform and ensured that the user journey is smooth, intuitive, and effective.
 
All of the developed functionality was thoroughly tested prior to the solution’s deployment to the cloud.

The platform automates the talent acquisition process by trusting the job/candidate matching to the AI Headhunter — a sophisticated Artificial Intelligence algorithm that compares the company’s requirements with the information provided by the job seekers and organizes relevant results within custom talent pools.
 
All the candidates using the talent acquisition platform undergo an online assessment process and receive a specific badge that reflects the current level of qualification. The badge level is determined by the information provided by the user, is calculated automatically, and is biased-free.
 
The profiles of candidates are visible only to the employers within the platform but not to other users. The profiles are also not indexed by search engines. The system offers job seekers access to valuable insights like possible areas of improvement, trending job types, occupations, and locations, and automatically generated recommendations that help enhance the existing profile.
 
The talent acquisition platform also has a powerful and secure chat where recruiters and job seekers can communicate and arrange the next stage of the interview process if necessary.

At the moment, our client has opened representative offices in 3 countries (Canada, the US, and UAE) and has already worked with Fortune 500 companies.
 
Even with a set of features developed for an MVP, the system has multiple monetization options that the business owner can utilize. E.g., freemium, subscription-based, in-app purchases, and advertising.
