Each year, Light IT Global publishes a corporate sustainability report in order to adhere to the principles of transparency, accountability, and community support that form the basis of our company policy.
While sustainability is often associated with environmental protection, resource preservation, and reducing carbon emissions, we believe that responsible business practices extend far beyond that and must always involve fair treatment of the workforce, community support, risk management, and long-term economic and social progress.
For IT companies, these responsibilities are particularly important. Software and Artificial Intelligence increasingly influence how people work, learn, communicate, access healthcare, and make decisions. As technology becomes more integrated into everyday life, the responsibility to develop and use it thoughtfully continues to grow. At Light IT Global, we believe that sustainable development starts with the decisions businesses make every day, like creating a supportive work environment and promoting responsible technology practices, because each decision can contribute to a more resilient organization and a better future for the people and communities around it.
This sustainability report provides an overview of our approach to environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) responsibilities throughout 2026. It explores our priorities, initiatives, and areas for future development, while highlighting how our activities relate to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our Approach to Sustainability
For us, sustainability is not a separate initiative that exists independently from everyday business operations. It is a decision-making approach that considers long-term consequences for employees, clients, partners, communities, and the environment. As a software engineering company, our sustainability priorities naturally reflect the nature of our work. We operate in an industry where people, knowledge, innovation, and trust are fundamental to success. This makes employee development, responsible technology, information security, and ethical business conduct particularly relevant.
At the same time, we recognize that technology companies have an environmental footprint. Office operations, electronic equipment, cloud infrastructure, and increasingly resource-intensive AI systems all require thoughtful management.
Our approach to sustainability is based on multiple interconnected priorities:
- People and workplace culture. Supporting employee well-being, professional development, equal opportunities, and a healthy working environment.
- Community engagement. Contributing to educational, charitable, and social initiatives that create meaningful benefits beyond our organization.
- Environmental responsibility. Encouraging efficient resource use, waste reduction, and environmentally conscious operations.
- Responsible technology. Promoting secure, ethical, accessible, and human-centered software and AI development.
- Corporate governance. Maintaining transparent, accountable, and responsible business relations.
These priorities provide a foundation for evaluating our current activities and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals provide a shared global framework for addressing economic, social, and environmental challenges. Adopted as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the 17 goals cover areas ranging from quality education and decent work to climate action, responsible consumption, and strong institutions.
Although no single company can address every global challenge, businesses can contribute by focusing on areas where their activities and expertise can create meaningful impact. For Light IT Global, the most relevant areas of potential contribution include:
- Good Health & Well-Being. Supporting employee health and well-being and contributing to healthcare innovation.
- Quality Education. Promoting continuous learning, professional development, mentorship, and educational partnerships.
- Gender Equality. Encouraging equal opportunities and fair treatment in the workplace.
- Decent Work & Economic Growth. Supporting responsible employment, professional growth, and sustainable business development.
- Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. Developing reliable digital solutions and encouraging responsible technological innovation.
- Reduced Inequalities. Promoting inclusive employment and accessible digital experiences.
- Responsible Consumption & Production. Facilitating efficient resource use and responsible management of electronic equipment.
- Climate Action. Identifying opportunities to reduce the environmental impact of business operations.
- Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions. Upholding ethical governance, transparency, data protection, and accountability.
- Partnerships for the Goals. Collaborating with organizations and communities to support shared objectives.
These goals help place our sustainability priorities within a broader international context. Throughout this report, we highlight the SDGs connected to different areas of our activities.
People First: Supporting Our Team
Any company depends on people, their creativity, skills, enthusiasm, and cooperation. That is why employees’ comfort, professional development, and workplace culture are central to our understanding of sustainability. And all of those things became even more important since the day of the full-scale Russian invasion, when the safety and well-being of Light IT Global’s staff turned out to be life-critical.
Supporting Our Employees During the War
2027 will mark the fifth anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. And while most of the company's efforts aimed at employee relocation were made during the first two years, in 2026 we still continue to help those staff members who decided to move abroad or to safer regions of Ukraine just this year.
Light IT Global provides individual financial support and necessary time off in case of relocation. In 2026, five members of our staff successfully relocated to Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions as well as to other countries like Moldova and Georgia.
For those team members who decide to stay in Ukraine, the company offers not only sufficient technical means to complete the work but also equipment necessary during regular power outages, such as portable charging stations.
Four Light IT Global’s employees chose to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces and defend our country’s independence on the battlefield. Their employment is secure, and once they’re discharged, they can return to the company if they choose.
Therapy is also available to all employees for psychological support, both in emergencies and as a basic tool for self-care.
Employee Well-being and Work-Life Balance
The modern IT industry offers opportunities for creativity and professional growth, but it can also create challenges such as demanding schedules, complex responsibilities, and periods of increased workload.
Supporting employees’ well-being therefore requires constant attention to working conditions, communication, and organizational culture.
Our approach to employee well-being focuses on creating comfortable working conditions for each team member, setting realistic expectations, providing necessary healthcare support, and maintaining respectful, friendly relationships within the organization.
Every three months, each person working at Light IT Global receives a fixed amount of financial compensation (the amount depends on the person’s current role). This sum can be spent on any kind of healthcare services, sport-related expenses, or education.
During 2026, Light IT Global conducted 27 team events and outings, including but not limited to online game tournaments, quizzes, movie nights, and themed online gatherings. Since our team is currently scattered across the globe, most of these events are held in an online format. However, Light IT Global has organized several in-person meetings where people in the same country or region can connect live, which became rare first because of COVID-19 restrictions and then because of the war.
Light IT Global takes the matter of sustainable workload very seriously, making sure our employees never work over 40 hours a week, are granted unlimited sick leave, and have paid vacation (18+ working days). If an employee chooses not to use their PTO, ten days (or fewer, if fewer are left) are transferred to the next year. For example, if a team member has 11 vacation days unused by December 31st 2026, ten days will be transferred to 2027, and the number of days available in 2027 will go from 18 to 28. The 11th day will not be transferred to the next year, as a way to encourage our employees to take time off during the year.
We also recognize that well-being cannot be measured solely through the availability of benefits. Employee feedback, engagement, retention, and workplace satisfaction provide valuable insights into whether our organizational practices meet people’s needs.
The company conducts an all-inclusive satisfaction survey every year and presents the results at a biannual, company-wide meeting led by executives. Each employee has an opportunity to provide feedback regarding their workplace experience during a one-on-one conversation with HR, which is held every three months. In case of emergency, any team member can reach out to HR immediately.
The latest satisfaction survey showed the following results:
- 4,63 out of 5 — satisfaction with team environment
- 4,53 out of 5 — satisfaction with the regularity and quality of the feedback
- 4,58 out of 5 — satisfaction with the level of corporate awareness and process transparency
- 4,65 out of 5 — satisfaction with the working conditions
Diversity, Inclusion, and Equal Opportunities
At Light IT Global, we see diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities for everyone as pillars of the company’s success. Different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives have proven to strengthen collaboration, encourage innovation, and contribute to better decision-making.
Our approach to creating equal opportunities is based on the principle that professional capabilities, performance, and potential should guide employment-related decisions. This includes attention to recruitment practices, career development, workplace accessibility, nondiscrimination, and overall fair treatment.
As of 2026, women hold 30% of senior management positions (CFO, CMO, etc.). Every employee, regardless of gender identity, age, or religious or political beliefs, can receive a promotion based solely on their yearly performance evaluation results.
20% of our team members are currently over the age of 40 and 10% are under the age of 25.
We make sure that all digital resources related to workplace communication and the company’s operations (specifically an internal electronic portal) are available to every employee and are equipped with special features necessary for unhindered access. If any case of discrimination or unfair workplace treatment occurs, Light IT Global has established a strict and clear escalation path that will lead to the fastest and most efficient resolution.
Building an inclusive workplace is an ongoing process. In order to adhere to the highest standards of quality and fairness in this regard, we regularly review the company’s existing practices, listen to the employees’ feedback, and always address barriers that may prevent individuals from participating or advancing.
Learning, Development, and Career Growth
In software engineering and AI development, continuous learning is essential. Technologies evolve, development practices change, and new challenges require professionals to expand their knowledge and skills.
We view professional development as an investment both in individual careers and in the long-term capabilities of the organization. Below you’ll find several of the most prominent ways in which Light IT Global facilitates learning, development, and career growth within the company.
An extensive mentorship program was established at Light IT Global over 15 years ago. In essence, it’s an experience-sharing initiative in which new or less experienced workers are paired with a personal mentor from among the company’s most skilled professionals. For each mentee, a custom Professional Development Plan (PDP) is developed, and its fulfillment process is controlled by the mentor. The mentor’s job is to guide and assist the mentee’s professional development, answer their questions, and suggest the most effective ways to achieve particular professional goals.
In 2026, 12 of Light IT Global’s employees enrolled in the mentorship program as mentees. 100% of them have completed their respective PDPs.
Important note: Our mentorship program is not exclusive to new hires. Any employee can enroll in the program, and the most suitable mentor will be chosen for them depending on the employee’s professional goals. For example, in 2026, the company's CTO and team leads coached several team members on expanding AI capabilities and AI development.
Another well-established initiative is regularly conducting internal knowledge-sharing sessions. Each of Light IT Global’s employees is encouraged to share their experiences, findings, and newly acquired knowledge with the team through public reports and coaching.
This year, six reports were created and presented to the team. The covered topics included AI advancement (e.g., “The role of OpenSpec in the project”), best practices (“Code. Check. Deploy: Flutter Quality Workflow”), mobile app development (“CI/CD for mobile application development”), and smart TV app development (“Smart TV App Testing: A Case Study”).
However, the team’s professional development tools aren’t solely internal. Over the last 12 months, our employees have participated in 13 conferences across Europe. This includes events in Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Estonia, and other countries. Reports on these events are regularly published on a corporate blog. We also encourage our team members to pursue professional growth independently. The company provides free corporate subscriptions to the most popular educational platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and Skillshare. The management actively supports employees if they choose to undergo a third-party professional certification process, such as:
- AWS Certified AI Practitioner
- Professional SCRUM Master Certification
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- ISTQB Certified Tester
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, and others.
Beyond formal education, knowledge sharing between colleagues helps create an environment where expertise becomes a collective resource. By supporting continuous learning, we aim to strengthen our ability to adapt, innovate, and deliver long-term value.
Building a Supportive Corporate Culture
A strong corporate culture develops through everyday interactions, shared experiences, and the way people collaborate. Being a company with a distributed team, Light IT Global pays even more attention to maintaining meaningful connections despite external challenges.
Throughout 2026, we’ve conducted six gaming events for the team members, eight non-work-related online gatherings in the format of “Cooler Talk”, an online Counter-Strike-2 tournament, and three in-person meetings in Ukraine and Poland.
Also, the company continues to conduct special holiday events for Christmas, New Year, Programmer’s Day, Halloween, the company’s Birthday, and other festivities. For example, for the 16th year in a row, all of our employees celebrate Vyshyvanka Day by dressing up in traditional Ukrainian clothing and donating to their charity of choice.
Another meaningful tradition is supporting parents in our organization. The company gives gifts to employees’ children on Christmas and International Children's Day.
A custom gamification system developed specifically for Light IT Global’s team members was designed to encourage engagement, boost morale, and make participation in company-wide events even more pleasant for everyone involved.
The mechanism of gamification is pretty straightforward: employees participate in company events (knowledge sharing, team building, professional development, charity) and earn points and “lights” — special currency that can be spent on items in the shop or charity donations. Team members with the most points appear on the leaderboard and earn special awards.
As of 2026, the gamification section became an integral part of the employee portal and currently includes:
- 26 unique missions
- 57 active monthly participants
- A company-wide leaderboard
- An internal shop with 60 custom articles
We recognize that these activities are not a substitute for fair employment practices or effective management. Instead, they complement them by creating an environment where people can communicate openly, exchange ideas, and feel connected to the organization and one another.
Light IT Global firmly believes that a sustainable corporate culture should support both individual growth and collective success.
Beyond Business: Supporting Our Communities
A company’s impact extends beyond its employees, customers, and commercial operations. Businesses are also an integral part of local communities, educational ecosystems, and broader social networks. Understanding that, Light IT Global executives make conscious decisions to utilize the company’s resources, expertise, and partnerships to contribute to addressing challenges that cannot be solved through commercial activities alone.
For our team, community involvement represents an opportunity to contribute beyond our core business while encouraging employees to participate in initiatives that reflect shared values.
Charity, Volunteering, and Humanitarian Support
Despite being an international software engineering company, Light IT Global deeply cherishes its Ukrainian roots and continues to support our country through the horrors of war. In 2026, support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukrainians whose lives were torn apart by the consequences of the Russian invasion remained our main priority.
This year we’ve conducted 10+ company-wide fundraising events that led to a USD 100,000+ donation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In 2026, we’ve bought and equipped our defenders with:
- 1 transceiver
- 7 power stations
- 4 drones
- 3 night vision devices
Our employees also support Ukrainian defenders individually and regularly donate to trusted funds and initiatives like “Повернись живим” (“Come back alive”), “Uited24”, “Благодійний Фонд Сергія Притули” (“Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation”), and others.
Special attention goes to military units where our employees or the members of their families serve.
Light IT Global’s team members regularly participate in blood donations, which is critical in Ukraine, where blood shortage can negatively influence not only the process of recovery for our defenders but also civilians who regularly suffer from military attacks of Russian invaders.
However, helping the Ukrainian Armed Forces isn’t the only charitable cause for our company. Light IT Global continues its years-long tradition of supporting children in need, orphans, and children with complex health issues.
On Christmas, we conduct a charity auction with items provided by our employees (memorabilia, arts and crafts, fun gifts, etc.). Each team member has the opportunity to bid on a specific item(s), and whoever donates the most wins it. This form of a charity event allows us to combine both the enjoyment of an in-person interaction and the support of a noble cause.
Light IT Global encourages every person on the team to support other charities that reflect their values and beliefs, such as care for the environment, homeless animals, endangered species, the fight against world hunger, global medical research, religious causes, support of marginalized communities, etc.
While financial contributions provide one measure of support, the broader value of community initiatives also depends on their relevance, continuity, and the needs they address. That’s why Light IT Global aims to approach charitable engagement thoughtfully, focusing on initiatives where our involvement can make a meaningful difference.
Education, Knowledge Sharing, and Strategic Partnerships
As a technology company, we recognize the value of sharing practical experience with people beginning their careers in software engineering and AI development, exploring new technologies, or seeking to strengthen their digital skills.
To address this issue specifically, in 2015, Light IT Global established “Light Academy” — an educational initiative that helps people who want to try learning Python, AI, back-end, or front-end development.
Our most experienced employees take on the role of teachers and share their knowledge with the younger generation. The courses at Light Academy are available to everyone free of charge, and the most successful alumni get an opportunity to be employed at Light IT Global.
- 130+ students trained
- 4 training programs
- 50+ students joined Light IT Global’s team
We also established strategic partnerships with Higher Education Institutions across Ukraine, specifically in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya. These partnerships will become even more critical in the future as the role of technology continues to expand far beyond the IT industry and technical fields of study. The company sees this exchange as an important contribution to the development of a skilled and adaptable professional community.
Environmental Responsibility: Reducing Our Footprint
Although software engineering companies generally have a different environmental profile than manufacturers or heavy industry, digital businesses still consume resources and contribute to environmental impact.
Recognizing these impacts is an important part of responsible technology operations within our company. Our environmental approach focuses on identifying opportunities to use available resources more efficiently, reduce unnecessary waste, and make more informed operational decisions.
Energy Efficiency and Resource Conservation
Energy consumption is a key environmental consideration for technology-driven businesses. Practical measures such as efficient lighting, responsible equipment use, and thoughtful resource management can help reduce unnecessary consumption.
In 2026, Light IT Global closed its office in Zaporizhzhya (Ukraine) and transitioned to a fully remote working model. This reduced our reliance on office infrastructure and cut consumption of electricity, heating, lighting, and other resources. By eliminating the need to maintain a dedicated physical workspace, we also reduced resource consumption associated with daily operations. While primarily an operational transition, this shift supports a more flexible and resource-conscious approach to how we work.
Since a substantial portion of our team still stays in Ukraine, energy efficiency and conservation are vital, especially during winter months when Russian attacks on the national energy infrastructure intensify and regular power outages occur. 23% of our employees regularly utilize alternative energy sources such as solar panels to take the load off the Ukrainian energy system and promote “green” environmental initiatives.
The same approach to energy preservation is shared by the employees working in other countries. Our team members use alternative energy whenever possible and intentionally reduce their individual energy consumption.
Waste Reduction and Responsible Consumption
Responsible consumption means considering not only which resources the company uses, but also how long they remain useful and what happens when they are no longer needed. For Light IT Global, the matter of electronic equipment is particularly relevant. Laptops, monitors, accessories, and other devices contain valuable materials and require appropriate handling at the end of their lifecycle.
That’s why our company takes part in:
- Extending equipment lifecycles through maintenance, repair, and reuse
- Responsible disposal and recycling
- Donating unnecessary but fully functional equipment to those who may need it but don’t have the means to buy electronic devices on their own
Besides handling electronic equipment responsibly, Light IT Global invests in building an environmentally conscious corporate culture. We utilize biodegradable and recycled materials for corporate merch, encourage our employees to reduce plastic consumption (e.g., using glass straws, non-disposable dishware, and eco-friendly bags), and utilize more eco-friendly transportation like bikes, electric-driven public transportation, and electric cars.
The company continues to regularly conduct various eco events (e.g., planting new trees) and clean-ups. In 2026, we achieved 87% employee participation in these initiatives.
We firmly believe that small operational improvements may appear small individually, but consistent resource management can contribute to more responsible business practices over time.
Sustainable Technology Practices
Environmental responsibility in the technology sector increasingly extends to software architecture, infrastructure management, and computing efficiency. Efficient software can reduce unnecessary processing, storage, and data transfer. Thoughtful cloud resource management can help avoid overprovisioning infrastructure.
AI introduces additional considerations as well. Training and operating AI models can require significant computing resources, making it important to evaluate whether a particular AI approach is proportionate to the problem being solved.
At Light IT Global, we recognize that not every business challenge our clients have requires a large AI model, and not every process benefits from continuous AI-powered automation. Our team follows responsible engineering practices, selecting appropriate technologies, optimizing resource use, and balancing performance requirements with operational efficiency.
We recognize that environmental performance in digital operations is complex and depends on factors such as third-party infrastructure providers, energy sources, workload characteristics, and equipment lifecycles. Our objective is to continue improving our understanding of these impacts and identify practical opportunities for more efficient technology operations.
