Light IT Global LLC is an international software engineering and IT services provider founded in 2006 in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine. Over the years, the company has made its way from a small group of IT aficionados working in the basement of a small apartment complex to a trusted custom software development vendor with 450+ completed projects, 170 engineers on staff, customers in 27 countries, and 6 offices/delivery locations across Europe (Spain, Portugal, Ukraine, Poland, UK, and the Netherlands).

Despite the full-scale war in Ukraine that has gone on for nearly three years now, Light IT Global remains committed to minimizing its environmental impact. We do that by implementing sustainable practices and promoting environmental responsibility across our organization. We prioritize reducing carbon emissions, conserving resources, managing waste effectively, and supporting meaningful consumption practices. Our environmental initiatives are driven by organizational goals and our team members' dedicated commitment to supporting a greener planet.
Continuous Resource and Waste Management
For several years now, we have stuck to SMART goals in resource conservation and waste management. Light IT Global actively follows the “reduce, reuse, recycle” model, particularly with hardware, supplies, and other company assets. This approach is ingrained in our company culture and ensures all employees understand and participate in sustainable practices.
Light IT Global actively donates used computers, furniture, clothes, and other items to vulnerable members of our community, extending the life cycle of products. We also engage in comprehensive waste sorting and recycling activities across all company locations, with employees incorporating these practices at home as well.
Our remote work model, implemented before global pandemic, has enabled a notable reduction in paper, water, and energy usage. Alongside these practices, the eco-friendly habits of our employees have further contributed to waste reduction, creating positive environmental impacts across all our development centers.
Reducing Resource Usage
We encourage all team members to use resources thoughtfully, including participating in recycling and upcycling initiatives, switching to renewable energy sources, and reducing paper consumption. These efforts contribute to our larger objective of preserving resources for a sustainable future.
Many of our employees embrace practices like using personal reusable items and participating in thrift shopping to help combat fast fashion's environmental impact. Battery recycling is another responsibility our employees undertake to reduce toxic waste. These practices reflect our commitment to conscious and meaningful consumption.
As Ukraine currently suffers from a major energy crisis, which gets even more severe during winter months, all Light IT Global’s employees consciously reduce energy consumption both throughout working hours and after that. These efforts help our national energy system remain as stable as possible and serve millions of people across the country.
Volunteering and Activism
Light IT Global actively supports various national and international environmental organizations through donations and participation in initiatives such as park and beach clean-ups, tree planting, and fundraisers for animal shelters. In 2024, we continue to support the animal shelter “Дай лапу, друг” (“Put out your paw, friend”) in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine through both donations and volunteer activities.
Since the onset of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Light IT Global has intensified its environmental activities to address the aftermath of military attacks. We have doubled our efforts to conserve energy, which is vital in Ukraine’s ongoing energy crisis, and our employees volunteer in cleanup events across Ukraine, helping to restore livability in impacted areas.

Since the onset of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, our focus has expanded to support our Ukrainian employees and their families, providing relocation assistance, financial support, and contributions to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Over the past two years, we’ve donated more than USD 150,000 and organized over 30 fundraisers this year alone to supply essential equipment to Ukrainian soldiers. As of 2024, 5% of our employees continue to serve in Ukraine's Armed Forces, with their positions retained and salaries maintained at 50% while they serve.

Our employees have participated in blood donations to assist civilians injured by missile attacks and volunteered at shelters and “Points of Invincibility”—hubs providing warmth, electricity, and essential supplies during power outages.
