Our client had a concept of a complex platform for the healthcare industry. Specifically, this platform combines the functionality of a customer management system and the live communication features such as video chat. Both doctors and patients of a particular hospital can register in this system, schedule appointments, and communicate with each other in real time. Such virtual visits offer a similar experience as “live” visits to a clinic but without negative aspects such as long queues or contact with sick people. An additional mobile application allows doctors and patients to communicate almost anytime and anywhere.

Technical Implementation

Such a complex solution required a relatively large tech stack. For the backend, we used such technologies as Django REST framework and Django Channels. The frontend is built with Angular 4. We also used OpenTok to integrate a chat in this application. In order to keep health records the system supports various formats of text and image files. Moreover, it also supports DICOM – a special format for CT and MRT images. Online payment processing in this platform is handled by Stripe.
